Washpool Retreat was originally our family holiday shack purchased in 2006 before becoming our permanent residents in 2009. Both of us have been holidaying here since the late 70’s with our own families and friends owning shacks further downstream.
We originally ran the family farm at Keith in the South East consisting of a Poll Merino Sheep Stud, cattle, cropping and irrigated Lucerne. In 2008 we decided to purchase land at Cooke Plains, sell up at Keith and run the sheep stud from here. This enabled us to live at the river and travel out to the farm to manage it. Whilst living in the shack (guest house) we were able to build a beautiful extension suspended above in which we now live. This gave us the opportunity to let out our guest house and share what we have with people from all over the world.

Washpool Retreat is only 1 hour drive from Adelaide, a short drive to Adelaide Hills/ Hahndorf/ Mt Barker & Murray Bridge. It is in a gateway location to Fleurieu Peninsula/Kangaroo Island. Is a beautiful 2 bedroom guest house with a protected north facing deck and verandah is ideal for relaxing outside or sitting inside with the winter sun filtering in. A fully self-contained home with open plan living/dining/kitchen all with views of the river, plus a bathroom/laundry. Two queen size bedrooms complete with soft furnishings and linen, the main bedroom has direct access to the outdoor deck area and water views. A separate driveway access takes you right to the house and lawned area by the river.
